Opera Awards 2024 – Winner in the category EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES & IMPACT

Since the founding of Opera for Peace in 2019, the organization has worked with passion to support emerging professionals in the field of opera in order to promote social justice and equal opportunities.
 
It is therefore with great pride that on Oct 2, 2024 Opera for Peace Co-Founder & General Director Julia Lagahuzère accepted the International Opera Awards 2024 in the category EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES & IMPACT.
 
In her emotional speech she said: “Thank you for this very important recognition. We believe that equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion will only enrich artistic experiences on stage, allowing artists to become citizen artists, making an impact on their communities through opera, becoming role models for the next generation and very importantly, bringing in new audiences.”
 
Also present at the ceremony at Prinzregententheater, Munich – Jenna Wolf (Co-Founder & Artistic and External Relations Consultant) and Mariano Gilardon (Board member, Treasurer).
 
We also want to congratulate our Opera for Peace merging Artist Alumni William Guanbo Su for his nomination, and current Emerging Artist Justin Austin who, having tied with Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir, won in this category.
 
We thank all our Artists, Ambassadors, Advisors, Partners, Sponsors, and all those, who have – now and in the past – supported this trailblazing project, which aims to ring in a new era of equity in the arts.
